I got so excited this year. Watching the leaves change from dark green to a vibrant shade of yellow. It reminded me of Colorado, but to tell you the truth I was even more excited when Selene and Kevin reached out and asked me to photograph this milestone for them. I am so excited to share these memories from their session at Eklutna Lake here in Alaska.
I first met Kevin and Selene during January of this year. I had just moved up to Alaska with my husband. We had just started exploring Anchorage and the surrounding areas, along with meeting new people. One night we all went out to Matanuska Brewery and had the best burgers and from there a friendship was formed.
When I first heard that Selene and Kevin were expecting their first baby together. I truly couldn’t contain my excitement. I immediately ran to share the news with my husband. And before I knew it Kevin, Selene and myself were finding the perfect location for their session.
I recommended Eklutna Lake to them, one of my favorite Alaska photo locations. They fell in love with the idea after seeing some photos from an anniversary session I shot there this spring. I knew the mountain views with the painted yellow trees would make the perfect back drop for their pictures.
During their session we found a little spot nestled away on the opposite side of the lake that gave them some privacy during their session. We spent the evening taking in views and feeling the cool breeze rolling off the water.
I still find myself thinking back on this night. Photographing Selene and Kevin at Eklutna Lake here in Chugiak, Alaska was such a privilege and I’m so thankful to have captured their story. I can’t wait to watch these two grow into fantastic parents together and to one day meet their sweet baby girl.
