Moving to Anchorage has been one of the most humbling and exciting adventures for my business. My first week here I hit the ground running. Exploring the natural beauty of this great land, checking out wedding venues and so much more! Blown away with every glance of my eye. Through all the beauty that this amazing state has to offer. In my opinion there is no better place to have engagement photos taken then right here in Alaska. One of my favorite spots is a little place called Beluga point.

Engagement photos at Beluga Point

I first connected with Kayla over instagram. She and her husband had just moved from Ohio to Alaska this past fall. We thought up long and hard, trying to think of a beautiful spot to see the mountains. Somewhere that there was still snow on the ground during the months of February. We both agreed that Beluga point would be the perfect spot to take their engagement photos, but don’t just take my word for it. Check out some of my favorites from their session below!

Being new to an area brings up a whole new set of challenges. Think finding friends or trying to find something to do on the weekends. Thankfully the two of us instantly hit it off with one another and what started as an engagement session at Beluga point has grown into a lifelong friendship. I am so grateful for meeting her and getting to capture the intimate moments of her and her husbands love story.

Beluga Point

Beluga point is located just south of Anchorage. Its known for its spectacular views of the mountains as well as its ocean side views. You can feel the cool mist of the ocean and a breeze that will leave your hair flowing in the wind. Its a relatively easy hike for most and you can park in several areas to check out different sites. During the winter months the ground is covered in a white fluffy blanket of snow.

Engagement advice from a Michelle Johns

As a photographer I know how important engagement photos truly are to each and everyone of my couples. For some this is there first time in front of the camera and for others this is a big step for them in their relationship together. I do not take that lightly or for granted. Whether its down by the coast in the city of Seward or with the mountains in the background at Beluga point. Finding the perfect place for the two of you to explore together brings my heart so much joy. I would love to do that for you as well!
