Engagement season is officially upon us and as an Alaska wedding photographer I could not be more excited. This mountaintop proposal in Girdwood, Alaska at Alyeska ski resort was beyond magical. Between the fresh blanket of snow and the stunning mountain scenery. I was so happy to help Travis plan out the perfect way to ask Shawna to marry him.
A few weeks prior to meeting this sweet couple one of their closest friends reached out to me. He told me all about this sweet couple and how his friend Travis was going to ask Shawna to marry him at the top of Alyeska Resort.
I was completely on board and ready to help in any way that I could. First thing I did was get in in contact with Travis so we could nail down all the little details. I was so excited to help him plan out this surprise proposal at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska.
I took a ride up to the top of the mountain via the gondola at Alyeska and enjoyed being surrounded by the upper bowl at the ski resort. If you haven’t taken a ride there for yourself I highly recommend. The gondola is a great option for people not wanting to take a chair lift to the top but who still want to enjoy the views and beverages.
This location held special meaning to both Travis and Shawna. While chatting back and forth about the proposal Travis told me that they normally take family photos outside Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, Alaska. Which I thought was so freaking cool, and loved that he wanted to incorporate it in their session.
I think its so cool when couples have a location or locations that holds special meaning to them. It makes their session even more special and unique to their story as a couple. I was thankful to be apart of the special memories that they would hold from their very own mountaintop proposal.
A little bit after 3pm the three of us met up at the top of the ski resort inside the bar. Travis had told Shawna that they were taking their annual family photos as to not ruin the surprise he had been planning.
Travis had planned out and excuted the perfect proposal at Alyeska in Girdwood, Alaska. We found the perfect place for him to pop the question. Surrounded by chair lifts, skiiers, snowboarders and a wide open view of the mountains.
At the end of the night we all enjoyed a glass of champagne on the house inside the restaurant. Making a toast to the newly engaged couple before they headed out for a dinner celebration that night.
