When I moved to Alaska I spent a lot of time learning about the wedding and elopement scene. It was totally different from what I had known while I was living in Nashville. I fell in love with all the unique that Alaska has to offer for weddings and elopements.
I knew that in order to showcase these things to you that I needed to gain the experience. So I attended several styled shoots where I was able to meet and work with vendors and photographers. (a styled shoot is a way photographers can gain experience and build their portfolio to show to future couples)
Now comes the fun part I get to share my experience and knowledge with you.
I see this one done a lot and with good reason. Alaska has some of the best glaciers you will ever see but if you’re not into glaciers that’s cool too. There are some other pretty cool scenic landing options that companies offer as well. Below I will leave a list of helicopter companies for you to reference just in case you need it!
If exploring and doing a little bit of hiking is on your list of things to do while visiting. You can totally incorporate that activity into your Alaska elopement. There are tons of trails all across the state that are just begging to be explored. Since Alaska is such a big state I’m going to list some of my favorite locations based on the city they are associated with.
Seward
Palmer
Anchorage
Girdwood
Homer
Healy
Camping or glamping (my preferred alternative to the camping experience) is another cool activity that you can incorporate into your Alaska elopement. If you go on to Airbnb you’ll find all kinds of cool rental cabin options for your stay. below I’ll share with you some of my favorite a-frame cabins and a unique tenting experience as well.
Don’t let the seasons get you down. There are plenty of activities that take place in the winter that you can incorporate into your elopement. A few examples that I can think of are riding snow machines, enjoying a day on the slopes, or even taking a dog sled tour. I’m a firm believer that the sky is truly the limit. If you are dreaming of something then just do it!!!
Ready to get lost at sea? Don’t worry I got you covered. Enjoy a unique boating experience while taking in the breathtaking views that surround you while out on the water. It’s definitely a one-of-a-kind activity and trust me you’re going to want the photos to show for it. I’ll put info for the company I have previously worked with below for you to reference if you decide this is the route for you.
I hope that you have enjoyed reading this blog post about activities that you can incorporate into your your day. I know that I have enjoyed putting it together and sharing it with you. It is my hope that you are now ready to plan your very own epic adventure elopement here in Alaska.
